“60 Dragons” is a large-scale portrait of world famous actor and martial artist Jackie Chan, created in commemoration of his 60th birthday. Disposable bamboo chopsticks were chosen as the base material for this installation piece, inspired by the actor’s use of it in fighting scenes from his movies. The 64,000 chopsticks were first tied into different bundle sizes with strings, and hung on to a steel frame suspended with steel cables to construct the portrait. To the left, the actor’s portrait is framed by 60 bamboo chopstick holders filled with skewers forming the character “龍” (dragon), reflecting his Chinese name.
